I try to go white water rafting at least once a year here in Tokushima, and Golden Week provided a great opportunity to open my account for 2005. There's a beautiful stretch of Shikoku's longest river, the Yoshinogawa, that has carved a spectacular gorge through the mountains in the very centre of the island. It's known as Oboke-Koboke and is home to some of Japan's best rafting. It also happens to border on the Iya Valley, where I was first placed as a JET. The day dawned sunny and warm when we got out there on May 29 and we had a great day - thanks to Mark and the crew at HAPPY RAFT!! Check out these pics!
