PERSONAL PROFILE
2004 - 2005
- Chair, AJET National Council
The Association for Japan Exchange and Teaching (AJET) is a support and social network for
JET Programme participants. A national organisation, AJET organises cultural, sporting and
charity events, publishes a range of books and information, maintains a counselling service,
and represents JETs and their concerns to the Government Ministries that organise the JET
Programme. As Chair, I was responsible for overseeing AJET's many activities on a national
scale.
2003 - 2004
- Block Representative, AJET National Council
- Lead Organiser, AJET Games Touch Rugby Tournament
- Presenter, "Summer Days, Dancing Nights"
NHK is Japan's public broadcaster. Every summer, their international division, NHK World,
makes a special live international broadcast from a Japanese festival. In 2004, the festival
was Awa Odori in Tokushima and due to my experience with the dance, I was asked to join the
broadcast as a presenter - a fantastic experience!
2002 - 2003
- Prefectural Representative, AJET Tokushima
- Producer, AJET Tokushima Musical
2001
- Chair, Biofutures 2001 Organising Committee
- General Staff Director, Siemens Science Experience,
SE Queensland
Biofutures and the Siemens Science Experience are science forums for high school students, hosted
at university campuses over the course of several days. In both of the above roles, I had
significant responsibility for program development and implementation, budgeting, and human
resource management.
